Today, I am making an effort not to feel as miserable as I have for the last couple of days. We will see if this effort is successful. (Thank you, people who sent me cheering things. I really appreciate it.)

As part of that effort, I am making pie. Because it is Pi Day! Today, I am making vinegar pie - the recipe I used is here. It is currently in the oven. The recipe says you can use any kind of vinegar you like, so I have used apple cider vinegar, since the recipe also has nutmeg in it. Apples and nutmeg go together. Though, I think it could be fun to try different kinds of fruit-infused vinegar and see how much it changes the flavor of the pie. (Also, there are a lot of vinegar pie recipes on the internet and some of them call for a hell of a lot more vinegar. One called for 1/2 cup of vinegar which seems excessive to me.)

Of course, that all assumes that the pie is successful. The internet assures me that vinegar pie is delicious and I'm willing to cautiously believe it, but this is the first pie that I've ever made where I didn't look at the ingredient list and think, "Well, everything in that seems sensible and tastes good on its own." For instance, you look at the ingredient list for last month's sugar cream pie and think, "This is made of sugar and cream - even if it's not great it at least won't be offensive to the palate." I am unsure about the vinegar. It seemed very vinegary when I was mixing it.

Well, I suppose we'll see how it smells when it comes out of the oven.

Happy Pi day!

I raised my eyebrows at this vinegar pie concept - I'm SO curious to hear how you're end result turns out.

Oooh. Please do let us know how the vinegar pie comes out. XD It sounds so... interesting. I'm not sure if it's interesting-bad or interesting-good. XD
