Thus far today:
- Got to work, on a day when there is a library program.
- Got a phone call from my boss, saying that she won't be in today, the room is all set up, but she hasn't heard from the guy running the program.
- Check on room via secret back door. It is indeed all set up.
- Find code to padlock/lockbox on the public door of the room.
- Figure out how to open the lockbox. It is not at all intuitive.
- Open library.
- Find the guy running the program in the lobby, welcome him in a friendly and competent manner, let him into the room.
I realize that this doesn't seem like a huge big deal*, but I'm posting it because a) it was nerve-wracking and b) I managed it all without freaking out or looking to others like I was freaking out. Even the bit where it took me a stupidly long time to figure out how to open the frelling room.
So go me.
*Once, a few years ago, I was reading websites about Láadan (the artificial language) and I swear that I came across a word that meant something like "an accomplishment that's a big deal to the speaker, if not to anyone else". I often think about how useful a concept that is and how wonderful it would be to have a word for it, but alas, I have forgotten the word and have never been able to find it again. I don't suppose anyone else knows what I'm talking about?
