Nov. 8th, 2011 06:00 pmThis morning, I put some of the backlog of old-time radio horror podcasts onto my mp3 player and listened to two of them on my dinner break. One was from The Price of Fear, which was lovely because Vincent Price, telling you horror stories. How could that be bad? I have yet to listen to a bad episode of that show.
The second was an episode of Suspense called Flesh Peddler (talent agents, apparently - this is old-time radio and we'll have none of your salaciousness here) which starred a pre-Star Trek DeForest Kelley and had a creepy ventriloquist dummy. So if you've ever wanted to hear Dr McCoy talking about carnies and ventriloquists, that is the play for you. I found it pleasantly surreal just because it was Dr McCoy, but the ending was a bit lacking. Turns out the dummy was actually the midget son of the woman that the ventriloquist murdered. Like you do. I generally find Suspense a bit less fun than, say, Lights Out or Quiet Please. Still, kinda fun.
And hey, Dr McCoy.
