Yesterday, one of my interlibrary loans came in and was A New Heritage of Horror by David Pirie, so I have been reading that. It is pretty awesome thus far, mostly because it is specifically a history of British horror film, which is fascinating and new-to-me. Most of the reading of horror film history I have done has been focused on American film, with brief little "And then the Hammer studio happened!" asides in the 50's, before coming back to talk some more about the Cold War.

I need to get some little post-it notes or something to stick in the book whenever the author mentions a film that I'd particularly like to see. (In my own books, I would just dog ear the page, but it's not even from my own library so I am extra careful.) Right now, though, my main thought is "Why have I not seen more of the Quatermass films?" The answer is "Because neither my library nor Netflix has most of them," which is frustrating. I know that the library used to have Quatermass and the Pit because that's the only one I've seen, but we have apparently since discarded it. Which is a shame, as I remember it being quite good. I'll have to track down the films (and tv series) by other means.

I think that I will happily discard the crazy Freudians and read this book instead.
