Sep. 13th, 2011 02:19 pmSlow day. How about an icon meme?
Reply to this post and I'll pick five of your icons for you to talk about in your journal. (At which point, I will probably reply to your post so you can ask me to talk about mine...)

keywords: they said i'd be ambassador to france
Once upon a time, Charles J Guiteau shot President Garfield, who thereafter died of doctors. Many years later, Stephen Sondheim wrote a musical entitled Assassins in which Mr Guiteau was a character. Both the text of the icon and the keywords are things Guiteau says during the show. I go through Sondheim periods during which I listen to Assassins and Sweeney Todd on repeat and during one of those, I made this icon. It tends to get used when I want to talk about musical theater. I am not, personally, particularly terrifying or imposing but then, neither was Mr Guiteau.

keywords: i'm audrey horne and i get what i want
made by fuyu_icons
This is Audrey Horne, from Twin Peaks. Audrey is, pretty much, made of awesome. She's smart, she's determined, she doesn't give a damn what other people think of her, and I love her. (When I tried to watch Twin Peaks with my sister, she hated Audrey. I was completely boggled. Possibly, this should have told me that this would not be the show for Megan.) Also, I think this scene and this shot are just gorgeous, with the designs on the wall behind her the same red as her mouth. It's beautiful.

keywords: our little sillinesses of manner
This, and the keywords that go with it, are quotes from Neverwhere. Specifically, quotes from Mr Croup who is my favorite character in the book and, leaving aside the whole "psycho for hire who potentially eats people (and certainly does eat porcelain figurines)" is, a little bit, who I'd like to grow up to be someday. A little bit. Maybe.
Anyway. Mr Croup is eminently quoteable (my voicemail message has, for many years, been another quote from this book, which I'm sure surprises wrong numbers). When I first started blogging, over on blogger, I used this circumlocution quote sort of as a sig line and recently I reread it and wanted it as an icon to serve the same purpose: it acknowledges, in a quietly amusing manner, that my gods, I talk a hell of a lot. With a lot of commas and dashes and parenthetical asides.
I may need it for this post.

keywords: she wants a new disguise
This is one of the first icons I ever made. I believe I made it in Paint. You can tell.
However! I quite like it. I found the picture via google search and have no idea whose it is. The lyrics are from a Matthew Good song. I am fascinated by masks and disguises and the way they allow one to choose or alter one's identity. This icon gets used for things like that and also, oddly, for music posts.

keywords: persephone
I did not make the base and don't know who did, alas. I did add the text. This is my spring icon and my metaphorical-spring icon, for coming out of dark times and blossoming again. Persephone is not one of my goddesses, particularly, as I'm pretty patheon-specific, but her story resonates a lot with me.
