Apr. 14th, 2011 01:18 pmToday, I have had to explain to my coworkers:
- The difference between whoopie pies and Moon Pies.
- What Tastykakes are. (Oh, jelly krimpets*! I miss you so!)
- Who Caesar Rodney was and why he's on the back of the Delaware quarter.
Apparently, it is an East Coast kind of day.
*Y'know, it just occurred to me, but that whole thing in Maniac Magee where the title character keeps eating butterscotch krimpets must have somewhat less resonance to kids out here, who have never experienced krimpets. Huh. We read that in fourth grade and thinking about the book always sort of gave me a craving.

Date: 2011-04-14 09:07 pm (UTC)You can really only get Tastykakes in Pennsylvania and closely surrounding areas, so it's entirely possible that you may not have seen them, depending on where you are.
They are probably also something of an acquired childhood taste, being a packaged snack cake and all.
