Tonight, I went to see the stage show of Rocky Horror at the BPA.
Actually, I went last weekend too. But see, the thing about live theater is that there is always a little voice in the back of my mind saying "You will never see this again. You can't preserve it. And you know you'll forget it - you have a terrible memory. So you should go more than once, just to make it last longer." Which is all quite true. (Also, going to Rocky Horror twice means that the first time I can actually watch the show and the second time I can spend staring at Riff and Magenta like a creeper. Which, to be honest, is pretty much how I watch the movie too.)
Tonight's audience experience was odd, since I was sitting mostly in the middle of a bunch of teenage girls who had apparently never seen anything Rocky Horror related before and were what I'm going to charitably refer to as "not geeks". (Not that there's anything wrong with that. Not everyone can be geeky. It's okay.) And sitting right next to me on the other side were a lovely middle-aged couple in fishnets and spangly corsets. So, yeah. The only time the teenagers were really a problem was during the floor show, when the spotlight hit Brad. This production's Brad was a chubby guy and the teenagers laughed and I wanted to hit them because, for me, part of the thing about Rocky Horror is figuring out that everyone can find their own way to be sexy and dammit, the actor looked hot. He had very nice legs. But otherwise, the teenagers were fine.
And the production was awesome. The guy playing Frank was amazingly transcendentally hot and beautiful and perfect. Everyone else was excellent, Columbia was a skinny guy in a shiny bodysuit on roller skates (that sounds ridiculous but it was awesome), and Riff and Magenta stood up terribly well to my staring at them like a creeper.
I feel that I have definitely fulfilled my Rocky Horror quota for the year. 8)
