Seriously, who pays their library fines with a check that they left in the bookdrop?

I mean, okay, he also left a (rather oddly demanding) note with the check but still. Who does that?

Well, yeah. And that's fine. It's mostly the combination of 1) check in the bookdrop, 2) pushy note, 3) check in the bookdrop paperclipped to the pushy note but not in any other way contained. I mean, I don't mind taking it but it seems to me a very unsafe and uncertain method of paying fines. I'd think you'd at least want to put it in an envelope or something.

Yeah, that is definitely true. Of course, what strikes me is that that would never work in a system so big as say, Los Angeles Public Library, out here. It's definitely strange. I'd want to put it in an envelope, at the very least.
