Dear Library Patrons,
I realize that you have been taught that one should be quiet in the library. It is commendable of you to try to do so - well done!
However, if you're checking out without your library card or have some sort of question that you need answered, I need to be able to hear you. And, well, my hearing is not precisely the best in the world. In such situations, it is completely permissible to speak at a normal conversational volume. I will be able to hear you properly, thus lowering my level of frustration, and you will actually get your question answered or your books checked out. Everyone wins!
I promise you that we aren't going to jump out at you and shush you or anything.
