Today, I have done nothing productive. Well, that's a lie. I did go to the post office. And I've crocheted a great deal. But since that crocheting was done during what has turned out to pretty much be an all-day tv-and-movies marathon, I don't know that it counts.
On the upside, I did finally get around to watching Jennifer's Body, which I've meant to do for a while now. Nothing too special, but it was entertaining. Alas, it is too jokey to be scary and too serious to be funny. Though the satanic sacrifice scene did make me giggle. Gratuitous lesbian makeout scene is gratuitous. People, we understood the (really quite offensive) lesbianism = unbridled-and-dangerous female sexuality = badwrongscary meme back in 1936 when we did it in Dracula's Daughter. Do you think we could maybe work past that now? Also, once again, we find that we cannot have female monsters who are not about the dangers of female sexuality. Dammit.
I do like that the film doesn't harshly judge all female sexuality, though. Needy's perfectly nice and healthy sexual relationship with her boyfriend makes a pleasant contrast to Jennifer's scary and (literally) predatory sexual encounters. The fact that I can write this paragraph and have it be an unusual and pleasant surprise is a little depressing, though.
Now, I am going to go make dinner. That will be somewhat productive, at least.
