Today, it is raining. It's that kind of rain that's only one step up from mist, tiny drops so small that you can't distinguish one from another, so that they don't make a sound other than a soft continuous hiss. The sky is grey and opaque and when I look out the window toward the ferry, I can't tell the sky from the water.

I think this is my favorite kind of weather. I like the quiet of it, the way the rain blurs the edges of things and makes the whole world softer. Selfishly, I like being able to be indoors when it rains, preferably with a blanket and a book and a cup of tea, watching the tracks of water down my windows. It's such a relief, after days of brassy sunlight, to be quiet again, to be still.

Rain makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a quilt, like there's another layer between me and all the bothersome things in the world. And I wore grey and black today - by coincidence, not design - but I'm pleased by it nonetheless.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. (ETA: though I'm not sure I have a favourite weather, per se. I think my fav. weather is "night". *g* Oh, and I also like the drumming sound of rain, usually it's soothing.)
