darchildre: second doctor playing solitaire (bored now)

Comment, and I will pick 7 of your icons for you to talk about. You know the drill.

[personal profile] zanzando asked me about:

keywords: ghostlight

This is Seven and Ace, from Ghostlight, which is possibly my favorite episode of Doctor Who. Certainly, it is my favorite Seventh Doctor episode. They are so lovely, Seven and Ace. I use this icon mostly for melancholy, as it is quite a melancholy picture, but I also occasionally use it for haunted houses or ghosts. Because both of those things are appropriate too. I should watch Ghostlight again.

keywords: rebis says: she's got a boyfriend and she doesn't like you

Rebis! Rebis is from the Grant Morrison run on Doom Patrol. S/he (pronouns are hard with Rebis, and I don't like "it") is a composite being, made of up of Larry Trainor, Eleanor Poole, and the Negative Spirit. I love Rebis amazingly. S/he is so weird and inhuman and emotionless (s/he practices crying in hallways so that s/he can be ready if it become necessary). Doom Patrol is pretty surreal at the best of times and the panel this came from is pretty much a complete non sequiter (in an issue full of them), so I cannot explain to you who she is, who her boyfriend is, and why she doesn't like you. Rebis is for talking about comics or things that don't make any sense.

keywords: cool and smooth and curious

This is my icon for "I am feeling overwhelmed, and so I am being very small and quiet till it stops". The text and keywords are from a song by Suzanne Vega (Small Blue Thing), which is my Song For Such Times. "Today I am a small blue thing, like a marble or an eye. With my knees against my mouth, I am perfectly round. I am watching you."

keywords: only qualified to work on sailors
by [profile] villainousfruit

Ark in Space was the first oldschool Doctor Who episode I saw and by about 15 minutes in, I was utterly enchanted. It was weird and silly and there were monsters made of green bubblewrap. And there was this ridiculous man with this huge scarf, saying ridiculous things like the quote on the icon and measuring gravity with a yoyo. Man, Doctor Who is brilliant. Also, making fun of Harry Sullivan never gets old. (Oh, Harry. I do love you.) This icon is used for silly things.

keywords: burned as wizards

Drs Frankenstein and Pretorius! I do not have to explain my love for them, right? I mean, that's taken as read. Here, they are engaged in SCIENCE. The text is a paraphrase of a quote from the film, wherein Dr Pretorius says something like, "It is interesting to think, Henry, that once upon a time, we should have been burnt at the stake as wizards for this experiment." Honestly, I'm pretty sure that Dr Pretorius is a wizard, with his tiny people in jars. "This isn't science - it's more like black magic." Oh, Henry, you are more right than you know. This icon is for mad science and Henry Frankenstein.

keywords: road to faraway

This is one of my (many) Dark Tower icons. See, the Tower is the hub of the universe and the Beams are the spokes that lead to the Tower. It is a journeying icon and one that I use for travel and worlds that are other than ours.

keywords: i do not know why i am so terrible

The art is by Peter McCarty, from his lovely picture book T is for Terrible. The poor T-Rex! He does not know why he is so terrible! Would you think he was less terrible if he were pink, or blue? What if he ate plants? But he cannot do that, because he is a T-Rex. And so he is terrible. I love that book - it is adorable. The icon is for when I too am adorably terrible. I should get back to posting Picture Books You Should Read.
