I tend to prefer horror with a definite supernatural element, rather than a straight psycho-killer slasher, but I'm willing to try just about anything once.
For slasher killer, I recommend either Jason X or H20, two movies with succeed for entirely opposite reasons (H20 takes its premise utterly seriously, Jason X not at all).
Supernatural, hmn. The Ring is good, and scary as heck. The Messengers was kind of interesting, actually. I liked The Gift, too, which is only marginally supernatural but good. The Others is very atmospheric. I'll try to think of others.
Heh. I made the mistake of actually watching The Ring in the dark and never finished it. I will have to try it again, as I liked what I saw before having to turn it off. 8)
