The problem is not how quickly I eat the apples. (I am, in fact, a big weirdo who slices all my apples as soon as I get home because pre-sliced apples are easier to consume and I don't care if they brown in my fridge, so bad apples are apparent immediately.) The apples I'm buying are bad in the store, but I currently can't tell that because I can't smell them through my mask. Normally, I would be able to smell that they weren't worth buying.
