Things:

- I got my first vaccine shot on Saturday! Yay! I have as yet developed no symptoms beyond a little soreness in my arm. I went to a drive-thru clinic which was very stressful to actually drive through (there were a lot of cars in a close space and I never do well with that) but the actual injection took 2 seconds and was the least painful shot I've ever gotten.

- I made wee chicken potpies for lunches this week and I'm terribly excited about them. They're fairly labor intensive, so it's not a meal I'm going to make very often - they'll be an every-so-often treat, I think.

- This weekend, the weather suddenly decided that it should be summer, and so it was extremely sunny and the temperature got up to about 80. I do not approve. This is not what April is supposed to be.

- I've started listening to The Great Gundam Project podcast, which is weirdly scratching the same itch for me that the Sawbones podcast does. (Two people, talking enthusiastically about a thing I'm interested in a vague sort of way in but don't know enough about to be irritated when they have Wrong Opinions.) It has not yet convinced me to watch Gundam, because I have trouble actually watching anime with any sort of focus. It has made me long to have one of those fannish interests where the canon is huge and sprawling, like comics or Star Wars or Doctor Who. A form of fannish engagement that I really enjoy is deciding to focus on a particular non-central aspect of that kind of canon and track that weird focus throughout. Like deciding that you're going to read all the appearances of a certain supervillain, or you want to learn the entire history of Mandalore, or something. It's a kind of engagement where the quality of the canon material you're consuming matters less than the fact that you get to put together a particular kind of completionist puzzle. (I have deliberately sought out and read some extremely bad comics to follow the careers of secondary villains, you guys.) The trouble is, it is difficult to find a fandom that allows me to focus like that on purpose.

- I will say that The Great Gundam Project so far has caused me to listen to the opening and closing theme of Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 a whole lot and have them both stuck in my head for the last several days and I think I have past the point of enjoying them ironically to the point where I honestly like both of those ridiculous songs a lot.

Congrats on the shot! :D I'm glad you didn't get any side effects!

Ahaha yes that is exactly what I get out of GGP! Love to hear people having Opinions about something that I have no stake in, but that is adjacent enough to things I'm into that I am at least learning something about the cultural background noise of various bits of my personal fannish experience. :)

Congratulations on the shot.

Gundam is definitely something peripheral for me, but I've seen a few of the various series over time, so I hope the podcast is good for you.
