Aigh, it is a terrible trope and I wish it and the general form of an unsupportive boyfriend could go away entirely. Or that the unsupportive boyfriend could be eaten, yeeted, or otherwise removed early on so that the supportive partner can show up and be supportive all throughout the movie or show.
