darchildre: (natasha does not have time for this shit)

Libraries are, of course, a plague pit at the best of times, so we are trying to be extremely careful here in pandemic times. Masks, obvs, but also gloves whenever handling materials or using shared equipment, wiping down surfaces several times a day, and quarantining returns. Returned materials come in through the book drop, someone who is definitely wearing gloves empties the bookdrop into plastic crates, they remove the now-contaminated gloves and wash their hands, and those crates get carted off and left alone for at least 4 days. (My branch is quarantining for a week, mostly because it makes the counting easier.)

Today, I watched my coworker put on gloves, empty the bookdrop, and then go right back to her computer wearing those same gloves. And then she actually looked surprised and confused when I told her she needed to take the gloves off and wash her hands. Fortunately, she did so and hopefully will continue to do so going forward. Also fortunately, she's the only one who uses that work station, but who knows how long she's been doing this and what other things she's unknowingly contaminated.

I usually like her quite a lot but god, I just want to throttle her today.
