Hee. I understand the appeal of that character. Personally I love the one step sideways version of that character: the loyal ex-military who gets screwed over by his government and switches that scary level of devotion to an individual (family / lover / New cause). I love a complete turnaround and a character who will still do totally ruthless horrible things out of loyalty.
