darchildreIt's the fifth day of Yule! And also Christmas!
One thing that my family does every year around the holidays is attend the Christmas Revels is Tacoma. They perform traditional music, dances, and stories, with occasional audience participation. The program changes every year, but some things are included in each performance: the mummer's play with St George and the Dragon, The Lord of the Dance, Dona Nobis Pacem, and ending every performance with the whole theater singing along, the Sussex Mummers' Carol. So that's our song for today:
God bless the master of this house with happiness beside.
Where e'er his body rides or walks, his god must be his guide.
God bless the mistress of this house with gold chain 'round her breast.
Where e'er her body sleeps or wakes, Lord send her soul to rest.
God bless your house, your children too, your cattle and your store.
The Lord increase you day by day and give you more and more.
