In cool weather, I have (usually) four pants pockets or two skirt pockets, cardigan pockets, and coat pockets. A wealth of places to put things! I can have my wallet, my phone, lip balm, a couple handkerchiefs, keys, headphones, a fidget toy, a foldable shopping bag, a pen and small notebook - all kinds of stuff.
And then it gets hot out and I can no longer wear the cardigan and coat and am reduced to four or even two pockets! What am I supposed to do with that? I have to either stuff the few pockets I have or leave things behind and both options are bad.
I realize that the traditional solution to this problem is to carry a bag, but I hate that also. That's why I make sure all my clothing has pockets. One of the major drivers behind my getting better at sewing is to be able to put pockets in the clothing I own that doesn't already have them, but there are only so many pockets I can add when the problem is simply that I'm wearing fewer garments.
Summer is the worst.
