- It's supposed to be 80 degrees today and hotter this weekend. And it is has just today occurred to me that this will be the first summer in decades where my hair is too short to wear up, and too short to braid at bedtime. I'm not looking forward to it.
- The weather means it's also time to do the summer clothing transition, where I pack all my woolens away in cedar boxes until it gets cold again. I'm always sad to put away my sweaters, but it's fun to bring out all the summer clothes.
- I used to go to a monthly movie group at one of the other libraries in my system, but the group shut down during the pandemic. It started up a little while ago, and I just this month started going again. It was a lot of fun - I like the dudes who run the group a lot and they show interesting movies that it might not occur to me to watch on my own. However! They've acquired new chairs for the library meeting rooms, which are very clearly designed primarily for their ability to stack rather than any other consideration and they are extremely uncomfortable. This month's movie was The Remains of the Day, which is over 2 hours long, and it was excruciating. I may have to bring a chair cushion with me next month.
- I've been revisiting the Raffles stories (and watching the show from the 70s) for the past week, which is a complete delight. Yesterday I read the first Arsene Lupin book, which was also a lot of fun. Now I want to make a big list of gentleman/phantom thieves in fiction/film/tv and read/watch them all. Do any of you have recommendations along those lines?
