May. 9th, 2022 09:31 amWe are having an unusually cold spring this year, which I'm not complaining about. I vastly prefer cooler weather and I like rain.
This has given me the opportunity to try to figure out what triggers my summer seasonal depression, which usually starts in May and has, indeed, started. I had assumed it was increasing temperatures, or possibly sunny weather. However, since weren't not having those and I am still depressed, I'm forced to conclude that the trigger is simply the days lengthening.
Unfortunately, the obvious treatment this implies - blackout curtains on all the windows in my house and no natural light before 8 or after 5 - isn't feasible, since I live with other people who like summer.
