Jan. 12th, 2022 08:47 amMy new supervisor brought up Doctor Who this morning which led to an extended conversation about our experience of the show, about which two things:
a) Talking about nerd stuff with new people at work is so weird - the whole careful feeling out of "How nerdy can I be about this thing before you start thinking it's strange? What jokes and references are you going to get and which should I keep under wraps? Which of my strongly-held opinions on this are appropriate for future conversations?" It feels much more fraught than doing the same things in non-work spaces.
b) Man, I haven't watched any Doctor Who in ages, maybe I should do that this evening.
