Sep. 14th, 2021 06:26 amHad my first choir rehearsal since March 2020 last night. Maybe half (slightly less to my eye) is participating, which is nice because we can all be six feet apart without running out of room. We're rehearsing while wearing masks, proof of vaccination was required to register, we have no plans whatsoever to actually perform, and instead of our normal rehearsal space, we're meeting in an "outdoor shelter" attached to a local middle school. "Outdoor shelter" is a fancy term for "parking lot basketball court with a roof but no walls". It got very cold last night.
So it's not an ideal situation, comfort-wise, but we're singing again. Which is all that matters to me. Singing in a group is very good and I've missed it terribly and it felt wonderful to be able to do it again. And I only got choked up once because of Emotions about what I've missed, which is better than I anticipated. I was worried I wouldn't be able to sing for most of the night because of crying.
We're taking things very much week by week because who knows how long this sort of gathering will be feasible, but for right now, I'm glad I get to do this.
