Oct. 21st, 2020 01:10 pmMy coworker is considering getting her son a kitten for his birthday and she and the rest of my coworkers are spending the day sharing cat stories and looking at kittens on the Humane Society website and in general, I am so jealous I could spit.
I have loved all of the dogs my family has had over the past few decades and I get that my parents are not interested in figuring out the logistics of adding a cat to our lives right now, but god, I have wanted but haven't had a cat for 20 years. Dogs are great but cats are better-to-me in basically every way - they're softer, more interesting to interact with, make more pleasing sounds, more aesthetically pleasing in general. Usually, I can ignore this vague pet-based dissatisfaction, but hearing other people talking excitedly about their cats is just making me sad today.
Also, there is a beautiful calico on the Humane Society website and she will never be coming home with me and I am despondent.
