Good things about today:

- I slept much better last night so today I am just normal-for-summer tired instead of so exhausted that I feel sick. It is an improvement.

- Due to a shift change, I narrowly avoided interacting with my least favorite patron and did not have to speak to him at all.

- I have been neglecting Dante for the past few days but went back to my audiobook on my dinner break tonight and have reached the suicide forest. The suicide forest is such a good, weird image - it's dreadful but I'm weirdly fond of it.

So, I'm reading this book: Empire in Black and Gold by Adrian Tchaikovsky, which is the first in a series of epic fantasy novels about bug people that I found out about thanks to rachelmanija. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it and enjoying it immensely, to the point that I've already put the second one on hold.

But! Y'know that thing, where you have a character type that nearly always works for you but that you're ever so slightly ashamed of? ( Mild spoilers, but only really at the level of describing a couple of the characters. )
