Oct. 2nd, 2014 05:27 pmToday was our big everyone-who-works-for-the-library all-day meeting. Which was cool in parts and boring in other parts and mostly tiring.
Three good things that happened today:
- This year, they had a designated Chill Out Space, with comfy couches and tables for games and snacks. During breaks and small group sessions, you could choose to hang out there instead. I did this for the afternoon session, just sitting on a comfy couch, knitting and chatting with whoever decided they wanted to talk to me. It made the rest of the long-and-people-filled day much more bearable.
- One of the people who came to chat with me started with, "So I saw that you're running a heathen meetup group?" Which was super-cool. He is not personally heathen but is interested in the religion, so I encouraged him to join and come to our next meetup, just to see what he thinks.
- While in line for lunch, a coworker asked me, "So, do you listen to audiobooks in your car? Because I saw you pull up the other day and you were laughing really hard, so I wondered what you were listening to." And I explained that I was listening to a podcast called the Thrilling Adventure Hour, whereupon a lady in line in front of me whom I had never met before gasped and turned around. Lo and behold, she was a fellow Adventurekateer! I had never actually met a fellow fan in the flesh before, so that was cool. Also, we both convinced my coworker to try it out, so I feel like my day was ultimately productive.
And now I am home and have taken a refreshing shower and I'm not going to talk to anyone (except my grandmother) for the rest of the night.
