(no subject)

So tonight, my heathen meetup group met and held our first sumbel. And it went really well! There were five of us, of varying levels of experience with heathenry - from one lady for whom this was her first experience with heathenry to a guy who is a gothi with a group in Olympia. One of them brought mead, so we swapped that in for the apple juice I had provided. (I still don't like mead, but, y'know, sacramental beverage.) And there were toasts and boasts and stories about people's ancestors and it was all really great.

The plan is for us to get together again in early October for another sumbel (at a park that doesn't close at dusk, so we could keep going longer than three rounds if we wanted to). And now I am going to chill for a while, because although it went really well, the run-up to it was really nervewracking.
