Dec. 27th, 2013 08:39 amToday, I am back to work after my holiday vacation. Which has mostly been really pleasant. We have eight people in the house right now, which is probably a couple too many for comfort, but there haven't been too many explosions and mostly things have been nice. We've done a lot of cooking, played a lot of different board/card games, and today my mom and her sisters are going to make mustard. Which they're excited about, so that's cool.
Yesterday, I decided that I needed to spend some time by myself (because if I don't do that periodically, I start to hate everyone), so I stayed in my room for a few hours playing two new one-person games I have discovered: this Doctor Who game and this Sherlock Holmes game. Technically, they're print-and-play games and you could conceivably print out all the pages and bind them into booklet, but I find that it works quite well if I just open the various pdf files on my computer and tab between them, while keeping track of my story in a Notepad window. And then, all you need are two d6's and your computer!
They take about an hour to play, but if you write stuff down you can go away and come back whenever it's convenient. And stuff that happens in one game has an effect on the next game (if you decide to play that way), so it's kinda like a little roleplaying game that you play by yourself. I highly recommend checking them out.
