Mar. 13th, 2013 09:55 pmMovie night at Bainbridge. I've missed the last three, alas, but hopefully I will be able to start going regularly again.
Good things: movie night was packed. There were more people there than I've ever seen at movie night before.
Bad things: the movie tonight was The Landlord which was...a movie from the 70's*.
Good things: there were actually people there who wanted to discuss the movie, as opposed to the making of the movie, which is the traditional movie night discussion topic and which I am thoroughly uninterested in.
Bad things: this discussion was mostly led by one of Those Guys. You know, the ones who are smarter than everyone else in the room (or think they are) and want to make sure that everyone knows it and, because they are smarter than everyone else, know that the movie you just watched was pretty much no good and if you thought it was any good, you are wrong and should be shown the error of your ways. I had to leave discussion early to avoid trying to make his head explode with my mind. Thank the gods it wasn't a film I actually liked.
And now, I am going to bed.
*Repeated discussion of this with my dad makes me want to add a disclaimer: I do not hate all films from the 70's. There are films from the 70's that I love. Just not many of them (and we apparently do not watch them at movie night). Given a choice, I am pretty much always going to pick a film that is from either before 1950 or after 1980. There is fun stuff in that gap! Just, a lot of what's there is not for me.
