darchildre: a scarecrow with a pumpkin head, looking menacing (halloween)
I've taken Monday and Tuesday off this week, because Halloween is a lovely time to not be going to work and I have vacation that I may as well use. Hurrah! So tonight, I'm going to see Rocky Horror in Silverdale, tomorrow Mom and I are going to a play based on old-time radio horror, but I don't have plans yet for Halloween itself. I have to go to choir rehearsal in the evening, but I'm thinking a movie marathon would be a good idea for during the day. Help me choose the theme!

So, that was the most normally-dressed group of people I've ever watched Rocky Horror with. Seriously, there was me in my hand-knitted bloomers (which are awesome, btw), one lady in a cape, the guy in the chicken hat that I've seen at every showing of Rocky Horror I've attended in Kitsap County, and everyone else. It was honestly a little weird.

This was a community theater production and you could really tell - Frank was pretty awesome but half the cast couldn't sing, which was unfortunate. But, y'know, I don't really go to community theater expecting greatness. I go expecting that I can mouth the words to the songs along with the actors and laugh where I know the jokes are coming and gasp at the shocking things that I've seen dozens of times before. It's more like a ritual reenactment than a performance of a work of drama, if that makes sense. So, not as great as it could have been, but the ritual was reenacted and I am thoroughly satisfied.

Hurrah.
