Mrs Collywobbles lives on the edge of a big, dark, scary wood. The only thing protecting her from all the horrible creatures that live in it is...her little pet frog.
Why should you read this book? Because it is bizarre. And funny. And oddly dark. Because it is full of goblins and ogres and trolls singing funny little songs about the horrible things they want to do to little old ladies before they are gobbled up by her guard frog. And because of what happens at the end to Mrs Collywobbles and the frog, which I will not spoil for you. It is a deeply weird little book and I think it is marvelous.
Also, the illustrations are awesome.
