So, I like playing board games and card games, but I don't always enjoy the kinds of games that my family does. (I prefer games where there's something of a story, rather than what I think of as "straight" boardgames, like Parcheesi, or performative games, like Pictionary.) Thus, the idea of solo games appeals to me, because then I can play games that I like. And I also like crafting. And not spending inordinate amounts of money on games.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have discovered print-and-play gaming.

So far, I have made myself a Zombie in my Pocket set (which only took more than 10 minutes to print out and assemble because I decided I wanted to have a box for it to go in) and the bare-bones necessities for Pocket Civ. Zombie in my Pocket is quick to play and really easy to learn and it's fun. I haven't had time to play Pocket Civ yet, but I think it's going to be pretty awesome.

And then, while poking around on boardgamegeek looking for more solo games I could print out, I found the games of Todd Sanders. And now I want to make and play all of them because they are so goddamned pretty. The steampunk ones have lovely art, the Shadows Upon Lassadar games look like a lot of fun, and he has weird mythology-based card games that I covet. Especially the Ragnarok one (which is two-player, but I bet Mom would play with me).

I am going to go through so much cardstock.
