Today, I was involved in an event to Teach The Public How Library Ebooks Work at the Kitsap Mall. I am used to Kingston-style events, where we're happy if we get 10 people and 20 would be amazing.

There were something like 150 people who came to this things. I am all talked out, but hopefully many people now know how to put library books on their e-readers.

Unfortunately, some people were misinformed as to the nature of the event (how they could be so, with the big signs right next to us telling them what we were, is beyond me*) and thought this was a Compare and Contrast Devices event, which meant that they asked me many questions I was not qualified to answer. Like, "How much does the Nook cost?" and "Which e-reader would be best for my kids?" and "What is the Kindle Fire like?" People, I am here to tell you how to put library books on your e-reader. Also, I can tell you stuff about the Kindle up through generation 3. Beyond that, I can poke at things till they do what I want. You are welcome to watch.

Still, it was kinda fun. I'm always terrified before things like this, but when I actually get to them and start talking to people, I do okay. And the other library people there that I didn't know were very cool. And we learned that library audiobooks can be put on the Kindle as well, which is exciting.

Also, I learned that people look at me funny when I say things like, "Zombies aren't characters, zombies are an event."** But I could have learned that anywhere.

And now, I am going to take a bath and relax.

*Of course, people don't read signs. I know this and it continues to confuse me, because I am, due to my general paranoia and desire never to talk to people, an obsessive sign-reader. I think, "How do these people figure things out?" and then I realize that they ask other people. Freaky.

**This was after the event, while me and the other library people were talking about other things that the library is doing at the mall. Later in the month, there is Zombie Project Runway. Which led to discussions of zombie lit, which led to the above.
