Dec. 5th, 2010 01:18 pmOkay. Less panicked now.
Here is the plan:
Tomorrow, I am going to email the woman running the pageant and say, "Hey, we have two weeks and the music is too hard. I want this to be a great pageant and not a fiasco.* What do you think we can cut so that the praise team can learn the rest in time?"
Also tomorrow, I am going to email the lay leader and say, "Hey, I've been the accidental/interim choir director at this church for five years now. I stil have no actual training to do this and very little guidance and the new pastor keeps asking us to do things that I have no idea how to do and I have to keep turning him down. So, y'know, I would like to quit and would like the church to find someone else to do this job, please." Because that's a thing I've been thinking about for a while and I think that this is really the time to do something about it.
Also also tomorrow, I don't have chorale practice or work or anything I have to do beyond writing emails. So I might go to a movie or do something else that is fun because stress sucks and I would like to be distracted.
And now, I am going to go to my concert and be awesome. Then I will come home and have dinner and watch Fringe with Mom and work on crafty things. And I am not going to think about any of this ridiculousness for the rest of the day.
I think this is a good plan.
*This is a diplomatic lie. I do not honestly care about the pageant - I usually skip that Sunday. Alas that I can't this year. However, if I have to be involved, I want it to suck as little as possible.
