Nov. 16th, 2010 01:41 pmFor a very long time, I resisted wearing short skirts* because wearing them made me uncomfortable. Because a) I don't like to shave and don't like going about with visibly unshaved legs** and b) wearing things shorter than tea-length makes me feel as though I'm not fully dressed. I have recently discovered that I'm all right with wearing knee-length skirts if I wear opaque tights under them, which is good because I like wearing fun tights and no one can see them if my skirts are too long.
Today, my tights are a sort of light-beige, with pink and blue flowers. They are pretty adorable. They are also, except for the flowers, approximately the color of my skin.
I keep sort of glancing down, seeing them out of the corner of my eye, and momentarily because I could have sworn I put on tights, did I forget them and go out half dressed, what the hell? And then I notice the flowers and calm down again.
It is a bit distracting.
*And for "short", you should read "shorter than tea-length". I realize that's not actually what short means to most people.
**Thank you, guy in high school choir who made fun of me for not shaving because he could occasionally see hair through the tiny holes in the knees of my jeans. I have never forgotten you.
