A meme. Because hell, why not?
Hi, I'm Sara. I'm 27, female, white. I was born in West Virginia, grew up in Delaware, and have lived for the past 11 years in Washington state. I live with my parents, and Rosie the Wonder Corgi.
I work in two of the local library branches. I said for a while that I was going to go back to grad school and get my MLIS, but I'm pretty sure that's not true. The end of college was a little bit harrowingly bad and I don't really think I want to go through that again. But I love working at the library and I'm good at my job. The Dewey Decimal system is my superpower.
I'm a great big fannish geek. Being fannish gives me immense joy so, although I'm occasionally embarrassed by my geekier tendencies, I try mostly to accept and express them. I'm trying to learn to disparage myself less.
I'm a heathen and the gods are an important part of my daily life. I may not blot as often as I'd like to, but the gods are in my thoughts when I wake up in the morning and when I fall asleep at night and in between I try to live a virtuous life. I wear my hammer and I pray and I know they walk with me.
I'm a singer. Which is not like saying "I'm a library employee" and more like saying "I'm a breather" because it's something that feels that natural and important and impossible to stop. I am who I am because I sing.
I'm asexual. Someday, maybe, I'll have a romantic partner again. Sometimes, I miss holding hands.
I am paralyzingly shy and terribly introverted. I can talk to people but I tend not to, and I spend a good deal of my time inside my own head. I like it in there, though.
All right. I think that's most of the things I tell people when I'm introducing myself. We'll see how we get on from here.
