Meeting about library budget this morning. Someday, I will manage to act like an actual adult at a meeting involving large swaths of numbers and actually pay attention, rather than writing snippets of ridiculous stories in non-English alphabets. (Recently, I am partial to Shavian. It's curvy and phonetic, which is pleasing.)

Today was not that day.

Occasionally, I glance around when I'm doing things like that and look at other people taking notes and wonder just how many of them are doing the same kind of thing.

All of them. Or they're taking notes for things they actually need to work on when they get out of the meeting.

Most, if not all of them. It's how one stays awake and looks interested in meetings that have a small amount of interest ("What's my budget?" "How many people are you laying off?") and a large amount of non-interest.
