So hey, I added and was added by a bunch of new people on DW yesterday. Hello, new people! So I figure this is a good time for a Things I Assume You Know About Me post.
1) My name's Sara. The Renfield listed in my profile is a longstanding nickname, dating back to when I was 10 and read Dracula for the first time. I'll answer to that, though, if you like.
2) I'm female. I tend to assume that most people in fandom and on LJ/DW are, though of course not all. I am, though, so the assumption is safe here.
3) I live in western Washington, near Seattle but not in it, with my family: my mom and dad, two younger sisters (Megan and Katie), and Rosie the Wonder Corgi! We moved here about 10 years ago from Delaware, and I still find myself making comparisons.
4) I work at two branches of the local library system. I love working at the library - I love books, I love helping people find things out. It is a great job. At one of the libraries, I mostly work in the children's section which is awesome because it gives me an excuse to read kidlit.
5) I am a giant big geek. I like speculative fiction, sci-fi tv, fandom, and talking about the same to like-minded people. I will babble.
6) I'm fannish. I love fandom, fanfic, and thinking obsessively about fannish sources. Most of my fandoms are sci-fi based, but not all. And I'm a slasher.
7) I am also an enormous horror geek. (Horror is really my first love.) I tend towards older things when we're talking horror movies - I love the Universal Monsters with an passionate and unhealthy love - though I like a lot of modern stuff too. For the last year and a half or so, I've been going through something of a resurgence of Lovecraft fannishness, as well.
8) I'm a heathen. (Or Asatruar or Germanic/Norse reconstructionist pagan or whatever term you like best. I like heathen.) However, I also attend church with my family regularly, because I started coming years ago in order to sing with their tiny choir and got stuck being the choir director. So that's odd but I'm generally all right with it. (No, the people at church don't know I'm a heathen. And I don't intend to tell them, at least not right now.)
9) I'm asexual, but which I mean that I don't experience sexual desire. I still enjoy sexually explicit fanfic, though perhaps not in quite the same way that other people do. 8)
10) I'm terribly shy. So if I don't comment overfrequently, it's not because I hate you. It's because I'm terribly afraid that I am making a nuisance of myself.
That's probably enough to be getting on with.
