I can understand needing to close the curtains - better not to be able to see the awful and infinite blackness outside, right? 8) I read The Color Out of Space once in a dark and empty and echoing basement and gods, I am never doing that again.
(I have a bad habit of bringing whatever my current books is with me to the breakfast table, without necessarily thinking about how the subject matter will affect the meal.)
