I think Tolkein is one of the first things I read that had made-up words in it. It was sort of a revelation, one of those "Oh man, you can do that?" things.

I have yet to get through the whole of the Silmarilion. It's lovely, but I keep forgetting who everyone is. Next time, I will have to make some sort of chart.
