Oct. 1st, 2009 09:06 amOctober! October is my favorite month, you guys. So many things about October are awesome.
- Halloween! And Samhain, and Dia de los Muertos, and Winternights! But for me, especially, Halloween. It is the best holiday - horror movies and masks and candy. Who could ask for anything more?
- It is finally and completely and unequivocally autumn.
- I get to get my leather coat (oh, I love my leather coat) out of the closet and wear it for the first time in months. Oh, how I miss my coat in the summer!
- I also get to wear long sleeves and fingerless gloves and knee socks and homemade socks and cool weather clothes, hurrah! And by the end of the month, it will be time for sweaters!
- Grey days! Mist and wind and thick heavy clouds and rain. Occasionally, I miss autumn like we had when I lived in Delaware, which was crisp and brightly colored. (Deciduous trees are a bit thin on the ground in this part of the Evergreen State.) But I have come to love autumn here, too, all damp and grey and shadowed.
- Cocoa and spiced cider and oatmeal and foods cooked with pumpkin!
- Soon, there will be pomegranates in the store. Oh, but I love pomegranates.
Thus, in conclusion, October is the best part of the year. I'm awfully glad it's arrived.
